Get out of Lo Debar!

Jonathan, son of Saul, had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became disabled. His name was Mephibosheth.

Jonathan was the son of Saul. Saul was the first king of Israel. He was anointed by Samuel to be king. Saul disobeyed God and God rejected him as a king. It is very dangerous to disobey God. When Saul was told to destroy the Amalekites and all their things, he failed to carry out the instruction of God fully. He spared their king and their fat animals which he said were for sacrifices to God. The Lord was not pleased at all with him. How many people do that today? When we are taught to obey the word of God, do we not go and obey it partially. After Samuel died, Saul even consulted a woman with a familiar spirit. This was a sin before God. He died because of it. He did not only disobey God, he also consulted a spirit medium. God is not pleased at all with those who consult spirit mediums. Saul ended up dying with his sons.

The actions of parents affect their children. There are people who are suffering today as a result of the choices that their parents made. Mephibosheth was very young when his grandfather and his father died. When his nurse heard the news about Saul and Jonathan’s deaths, she panicked. She picked up the young Mephibosheth in a hurry to run away to a place of safety. When people are anxious and panicking they are not careful. She dropped the young boy and he ended up being crippled in both feet.

May people suffer because they were dropped by their care-givers. Mephibosheth’s grandfather failed him.

Leaders of nations

Saul failed as a leader of a nation. The nation of Israel suffered defeat by their enemies because of him. There are many nations that are defeated by enemies because their leaders rejected God. When a leader rejects the worship of the true God, he subjects his nation to defeat by enemies. Look at countries where they are worshipping idols; the people suffer in poverty and they have many problems. Disasters befall them as they do not have the protection of God. I have been to countries that are led by people who do not worship the true God and I have seen the level of suffering of their people which is just too much.

Heads of state who dedicate their people to idols are really failing their followers. When a nation is dedicated to evil spirits, you will see the evidence of that in people dying all the time. Bloodshed will be so normal in such a country. There will be lots of road accidents, criminals will be killing people and other disasters claiming lives. When you are dedicated to spirits of ancestral worship, you are dedicated to spirits of death.

Let us look at our schools. The learners who are very young are crippled because of the actions of the leaders. There is no more bible reading and prayers to the living God at our schools. The children are now getting recruited easily into Satanism. The young ones that I deal with in deliverance would brag about their satanic powers, drinking blood and eating human flesh. They would brag about their ability to fly and the houses of dead human bodies that they have under the sea. They are promised cars only to be given snakes at night to transport them. What kind of a society is that? Our children are crippled. They have been dropped by their fathers. They are failed by the very same people who are supposed to protect them. We have young ones who are crippled in their minds and they can never have a normal life.

Leaders of churches

here are churches of the devil that are mushrooming and are recruiting their members into devil-worshipping. We are living in end times where many false prophets are operating. Many people are joining cultic churches where they end up suffering. Those leaders of churches are really failing their members. The people go to them harassed by the devil and they harass them even more. Some of them teach their members to go to God through ancestors and living people who have acquired in certain churches.

Jesus is the ONLY way to God (John 14:6). He is the ONLY mediator between God and man (I Timothy 2:5). When we pray we are supposed to pray in His name. There is no other name through which we get saved except the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Many people are suffering today because they get baptized in churches of the devil and they are won over to serve him knowingly or unknowingly.

Leaders of families

There are people suffering today because they inherited demons in their families. Like Mephibosheth, they did not choose where they are but they are suffering because their forefathers sold them to the devil. Fathers who reject God subject their children to curses. Fathers who practice idolatry, those who worship ancestors and those who worship created things, sell their family members to the devil. For some it is because they want power, money, etc. They make agreements with the devil that everyone who gets born in their families shall belong to such evil spirits. When a child gets born in such a family he gets dedicated to the family spirits. They say they are protecting and strengthening the child, whereas they are introducing the family demons into that child’s life. In some cases parents are unaware that these practices of ‘protecting and strengthening’ the child or home actually means entering into agreements with forces of darkness. When they cut your baby when he is still young and they perform the rituals, they are dedicating your baby to the demons. The devil now has a right to do whatever he likes with your child’s life. That is why you find the whole family tormented by misfortunes, Tokoloshes and snakes that refuse to go away. These things will kill family members one by one.

People dedicated to such spirits are easily accessible to demons. They would try to do things but they find themselves failing all the time. Those spirits block their success. Each time when they are supposed to receive breakthroughs they would dream of those Tokoloshes and snakes, or of eating in their dreams and then they fail in what they wanted to achieve.

Parents

There are parents who do not look after their children well. They get too busy with their own things and fail to give their children the love that they need. We have children who grow up deprived of parental care. Such children are crippled psychologically. Some of them grow up being angry inside. Some become very controlling and the relationships they engage in as adults become dysfunctional. They control and hurt those who love them. Children who grow up in families where they witness parents fighting all the time also get affected by that and they grow up with lots of anger and frustrations inside them. Children who are rejected by their parents also exhibit socially unacceptable behaviour.

Significant others

There are many adults who are failing the young ones in societies. Instead of protecting them they abuse them. There are families where children are subjected to incest. They are raped and molested by their family members and they become crippled inside. Some of them get filled with demons of promiscuity and some of them become abusers themselves. Some of them feel damaged inside and they grow up with low sense of self and a lot of anger inside them. They end up becoming dysfunctional adults.

Let us learn from the story of Saul that what we do can affect generations to come. Let us listen to God and do what is right before him so that those who come after us can live in blessings, instead of living in curses.

Getting out of suffering

2 Samuel 9 NIV

David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”2 Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” “At your service,” he replied.3 the king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?” Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”4 “Where is he?” the king asked. Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”5 So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel. 6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honour. David said, “Mephibosheth!” “At your service,” he replied. 7 “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.” 8 Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?” 9 Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. 10 You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.) 11 Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s[a] table like one of the king’s sons.12 Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth. 13 And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet. King David who succeeded Saul as king and Jonathan, son of Saul, had a covenant relationship. King David did not forget the covenant. He remembered it even after Jonathan had died. He made a call wanting to show God’s kindness to any member of Saul’s household for the sake of Jonathan. Ziba told the king about Jonathan’s lame son who was in Lo Debar. David had a heart like that of the Father. Our God is a covenant keeper.

Mephibosheth who did not have much in a foreign land was called back to Jerusalem. He was told that he was being given back even the fields that belonged to his grandfather. He was even promoted to eating at the table of the king daily. Mephibosheth could not understand that kind of kindness. He even likened himself to a dead dog. In other words he did not feel worthy to receive such kind of kindness. Even you, when you are reading this, you can receive the kindness of God. Maybe you are one of those who were failed by significant others in your life and you ended up being subjected to suffering. You can accept the call of God and enjoy what is provided at His table. The new covenant of The Blood covers all your needs. God will not pass you when you need him for the sake of his Son Jesus Christ. He is still calling today, saying “is there no one here that I can save and bless for the sake of my Son who bled and died on the cross?” He wants to show us his kindness. Isaiah 53: 11 says that He shall see the fruit of the travail of his soul and be satisfied. When you receive the call of Jesus and you begin to live a holy life that is full of blessings that will please the Lord. It pleases The Lord when you inherit eternal life.

The Table of the King

There is a table of goodness that we are all called to. It is a table full of everything that you need. The Lord prepares a table for you before your enemies. You need to enjoy your life because Jesus said He came so that you should have life in abundance. The table that you are invited to has salvation, healing, deliverance, restoration, blessings and prosperity. You can sit down and enjoy what is provided there by The Lord. While you are there your head gets anointed with the oil of favour. Just eat whatever that you want. Think about it as you reading this, what is it that you need? Whatever that you need is available at the table of the King. What you need to do is to take and eat what you need by faith. Receive that which is provided for you in the name of Jesus Christ.

Remember, now it does not matter where you come from. Your family background, your financial status, your educational background or your standing in the community does not matter anymore. The grace is opened for you through the dying of Jesus on the cross. You might be coming from a family of witches, a family of inyangas, a cursed family, a poor family, an uneducated family or a family of failures. It does not matter how they crippled you. When you receive the call to the table of the king, you get separated from all the evil spirits that kept you in bondage. The shame of having crippled feet gets hidden at the table of God. You will eat with nobody seeing those crippled feet as they will be covered by the table cloth. Instead of your shame, you are receiving double honour and The Lord is clothing you with a garment of praise. Mephibosheth honoured the invitation of David and he ate at the king’s table daily. You can also receive the call of The Lord and enjoy your life daily. All your needs shall be met by the Lord. Refuse to continue to live in suffering whereas The Lord came to give you a great life and that is a life of Possibilities and Opportunities. Do not miss that. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get out of Lo Debar.
