Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Scripture Reference: Matthew 23:23 (NKJV)

In reading the scripture referred above, one get to learn that tithing was actually the only thing Jesus commended the Pharisees for doing right. This proves that tithing continued even in the New Testament and still continues in our day. Paying of tithe is never an option but a commandment from God to all. However, these days, there are people who argue that we are no longer obligated to tithe. These people refuse to pay their tithe and expect God to bless them. They bulldoze themselves to church, yet they refuse to obey what God commanded.

In Malachi 3:10, God commanded that we should bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in His house, the church. The church does great work and needs your support. How will the day to day finances of the church be fulfilled if you are withholding your tithe? It is therefore imperative that you pay your tithe in your local church. Your tithe helps to supports your pastor, and also improves the daily businesses of the church. Furthermore, your tithe helps to meet the needs of God’s people, and it helps support those who serve in God’s house.

Beloved, obey what is right before the eyes of Lord and not before men. Pay your tithe and store up for yourself treasures in heaven and the Lord shall reward you abundantly for your obedience.
