YOUR PERSONALITY SHOULD RESEMBLE CHRIST

So put aside every trace of malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander and hateful speech; like newborn babies [you should] long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may be nurtured and grow in respect to salvation [its ultimate fulfilment], if in fact you have [already] tasted the goodness and gracious kindness of the Lord Scripture Reference: 1 Peter 2:1-3 (AMP)

The word of God in the scripture referred above teaches us that we should not live in sin. One cannot grow in their Christianity unless they renounce sin. This child of God simply means that you cannot mature in your walk with Christ unless you put aside your natural responses to the world around you. You are therefore expected to live a life free of deceits, hypocrisy and lies. If you practice the sins listed in the scripture above you are not walking in love.

Being called a Christian means you are a “little” Christ. You are identified with Christ, thus His attributes should be evident in your life. Jesus Christ taught us to love our neighbour as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39). The love of your neighbour resembles the love of God. This implies that you should not slander other people. You should wish them well instead of being jealous of what the Lord is doing in their lives. You should rejoice with your neighbour’s success and pray for them because it gives glory to the Lord. Child of God, this principle should be your main objective because it is the key to your prosperity.

You are not supposed to lead a life of pretence by acting holy, whereas your actions are the opposite of what being a Christian entails. You belong to the chosen nation of Christ, you are of royal priesthood, a holy nation, and thus your actions should display royalty. You are called to proclaim the goodness and the glory of the Lord who brought you out of darkness to light.

The people of the world crave to fulfil the desires of the flesh. However, you as “little” Christ should long or desire for the Word of God. Like a child who yearn for milk , you should desire the Word of God for nourishment ,so that you may grow and improve in the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour. A day should not go by without you studying and meditating on the word of God.

It is the Word of God that will expel all the negativity and the evil works of the devil in your life. When you come to the knowledge of who God is through His Word, all your burdens will be taken away. Jesus assured to give us rest by taking away all our burdens when we come to Him (Matthew 11:28).

Beloved, choose to live in holiness and pursue righteousness so that you can continue to proclaim the goodness of the Lord in your life.
