As the Body of Christ, we are encouraged to take time off our busy schedules and gaze upon the face of God. We need to give ourselves some time to grow the Spirit man, by spending time in the Word, and by remaining in the Presence of God as we pray and fast in the beginning of the year. Like what we read in the Old and New Testament, believers would set aside time to seek the face of God, to nourish their Spirit as they dwell in the shelter of the Most High God.

We are reminded of Moses who was called twice to Mount Sinai, to spend 40 days and 40 nights in the Presence of God. The Prophet of God, Elijah, was also empowered to spend 40 days and 40 nights without food. Jesus himself, fasted for forty days and forty nights. We know as children of God, we must always rely on God for our wellbeing and for our whole year’s activities. For our year to run well with more of God’s healing, deliverances and blessings to the people of God, we need to surrender all to God.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God declares that He has good plans for our lives. Our lives are well planned, they are prearranged. We are predestined for great things. He has plans not to harm us. His plans are to prosper us, to give us hope and a future. We need to take some time to bow before Him and say YES Lord, so that His will can prevail in our lives in 2018. If you have not yet started fasting, start now and may God be with you.
