Scripture Reading: Hebrews 6:1-6 “Therefore let us get past the elementary stage in the teachings about the Christ, advancing on to maturity and perfection and spiritual completeness, [doing this] without laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God…” (AMP)

Human beings go through different levels of growth in their natural lives. One is born an infant and develops into adulthood. If a child remains in infancy stage and does not naturally develop, his parents would worry because that would be abnormal. The same applies when a child is being taught something that is relevant to their growth. As a parent you would not appreciate to see your child regressing instead of growing after you have invested so much time teaching them. You would want them to advance to the next stage of their lives and continually grow.
This too is the case with us Christians. At the moment you have received Christ as your Saviour, you are born again spiritually into God’s family. When you have been born again, your Father Jehovah does not expect you to remain a baby Christian; He expects you to mature because He delights in seeing you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). It is His will to see you develop well spiritually and grow in a healthy manner. The initial teachings that a born again Christian receives in their infancy are about repentance and how to live a holy life in Christ. These are the preschool basics which lay the foundation of your Christianity. Once the foundation has been laid, the onus is on you to continually nourish your spirit and grow in matters pertaining to the Kingdom of Christ.
However, there are Christians who have been saved many years, but spiritually they are still babies. They hear the Word of God all the time but they refuse to apply it in their daily lives. They refuse to go past the basics and have to be taught about repentance all the time because of refusing to separate from sin. When the Word of God is released to change their lives, they do not receive it by faith and work out their own salvation as commanded in Philippians 2:1. They want to be spoon-fed like babies by being taught one thing repeatedly, with no efforts from their side. They think it is someone else’s responsibility to hold their hand throughout their Christian lives.
It is time to do a thorough introspection. Are you not stuck at infancy stage of your Christianity? Are you still being persuaded to repent from your sins even though you have received Christ a long time ago? Like a dog returning to its vomit, you keep returning to your old sinful ways. If that is the case, you need to repent and start growing. Do you think God can really run the risk of pouring His precious anointing upon someone who is in primary school spiritually? No! You need to advance to spiritual maturity to a character like Jesus. You have to find yourself at a stage where you walk in righteousness on your own with no one having to teach you about repentance again and again. You are the only one responsible for your own Christian journey.
When you get baptised, your old sinful self gets buried and a new person emerges in Christ. You get identified with His burial and His resurrection (Colossians 2:12.) It is shocking to see some Christians constantly going back to the mud of sin as if this process never took place. What is going on child of God? The Lord suffered terrible things to remove you from your worldly sins. Why are you crucifying Christ all over again?
The kingdom of darkness rejoices when they see Christ being ridiculed and put to shame by those who boldly claim to belong to Him. Will you be forgiven for sins that you commit deliberately? Do not forget, Christ is coming back soon and He shall bring His reward. If you are found indulging in your sins at the time of His return, you shall receive your full reward of sowing in sin. You shall be reminded of all those times God sent His messengers to preach to you the message of repentance to persuade you to change but you refused. He shall deny you and cast you to the eternal fire because you are also denying Him through your unrighteous acts.
The funny part is that, most unholy Christians like these want to be like great servants of God who are moving in power because of the anointing bestowed upon them through obedience. They envy the anointing but do not give regard to the fact that it is attributed to obedience. They end up starting their own ministries and try to move in the same power as the obedient servants but fail because the anointing does not flow where there is sin. This is the reason why others end up going to the devil for powers to perform fake miracles. They want short cuts to the things of God.
Child of God, you have a privilege which most people do not have; you have been called to Christ Jesus. Do not pervert the grace by allowing the things of the flesh to rule over you.

Repent, grow up spiritually and be like your Lord Jesus, who is holy and you shall then prosper and enjoy your Christianity!
