DO NOT BE A COWARD; BE FEARLESS AND FACE YOUR ENEMY HEAD ON
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” (NIV)
There are many temptations that can cause Christians to depart from their faith out there. The devil works tirelessly to lure the people of God into sin so that he may gain access into their lives and destroy them. It is time for you as a Christian to wake up and realise that you are in a battlefield. Continually work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12) so that you do not lose your way or slumber along the way. Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 5:8 gives Christians a sobering reminder to be cautious at all times because we have a relentless enemy who roams around like a lion, seeking someone to seize and devour. Therefore, you need to be vigilant against danger, brave in the face of opposition and persistent through trials.
Paul gave the command to stand firm and be courageous because he knew that in our Christian lives, we are going to meet things that are going to shake us. This is the reason he also advises us to put on the full armour of God that you may be able to stand against the devil in Ephesians 6:11. You as a Christian are urged never to undermine the power of the devil because he is a very powerful spirit. Devil has got very intelligent schemes and if you are not on your guard, he shall knock you down. The only time when the devil does not have power over you is when you stand firm in your faith in Jesus. Without Jesus you are nothing.
He is not afraid of you, but of the One in you, who is Jesus. So, you cannot act righteous in church and toy with sin when you are outside. That would make you vulnerable to the devil and he shall kill you. You have already declared war against the devil by receiving Christ, continue fighting by staying righteous because you are already in a warzone. Do not sell your salvation for anything. When people encourage you to adapt to the system of this world, always remember that you are not a permanent citizen of this world but a foreigner. You are an ambassador of Christ, brought here on earth to represent heaven by spreading the fragrance of Christ. Therefore, you have to be faithful and represent the interests of your Father’s government successfully.
Temptations are always going to be a part of your life as a Christian. Jesus did not promise us a life that is free of troubles, so it would be very unrealistic if we do not expect them. Instead, He promised us that He shall fill us with His peace in our times of troubles. Do not allow your problems to make you give up. They are only temporary; joy shall come in the morning.
It is very important to note that the devil always opposes Christians towards the time of their breakthrough. So it is very important for you to stand firm during the time of your troubles. But weaklings will never breakthrough and move to another dimension because they retreat every time they feel intimidated by the devil. Be brave and move forth, the Lord will give you a breakthrough. When Moses and the Israelites were caught between the pursuing Egyptians and the Red Sea, God commanded them to stop crying to Him and move forward. A way had already been made for them, but God wanted them to take a leap of faith. When Moses prophetically lifted up his rod over the Red Sea, it parted and the Israelites went across. This applies to you as well. The Lord had already made provision for whatever you have been praying for. He has answered your prayer and has equipped you with everything you need. He is just waiting for you to be courageous and go across.
When you move forth by faith, ready to approach the enormous Red Sea, the Lord shall part it for you and you shall go across. There are situations that are waiting for you to be brave and act. Do not allow the devil to play on your head. Stand firm in your faith and take a stand against him. The water shall remain in front of you for as long as you refuse to stretch the rod over that Red Sea that you are facing. When you step forward by faith, you display that you trust in God and the Lord shall reward your faith.
Child of God, know your stand and be firm in what you believe in! Always approach situations the Christian way. Be courageous, brave and never give up!
