Scripture Reading: Revelations 5:9-10 “And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

Through His death, the Lord Jesus made us kings and priests in the kingdom of the Father. Kings have power, authority and ruler ship over kingdoms. On the other hand, priests have access to God and they have the authority to enter God’s secret place and communicate with Him there. The Father values communication with His children, hence Jesus laid down His life for us to be reconciled with God. Jehovah is the type of God who wants to be close to His own.
He created Adam and Eve and gave them dominion as kings over the entire earth. But they lost their ruler ship because they gave in to sin which separated them from God. However, God did not give up on man because He desires closeness with Him. He continued communicating with those whom He considered righteous in His sight. Noah was one of those whom God considered blameless in His sight. He communicated with Him and chose Him to preserve the life of man. God also walked closely with Abraham and had a special relationship with his descendants, the Israelites.
He walked in closeness with them and revealed Himself to them. He led them in the wilderness by a pillar of cloud during the day and by fire at night. He commanded them to build a Tent of the Meeting so that He may tabernacle amongst them and continue communicating with them. However, that was a temporary structure which was a fore shadow of Christ. Jesus came down to reunite us with the Father for good. He became a sacrifice once and for all and gave us full access to God’s throne. He redeemed us with His blood and made us into a kingdom kings who are once again qualified to walk in power, dominion and authority. Through Him, what was lost by Adam and Even was restored.
As a king, you must be heard and things must move in accordance with your commands. You have the power to call things and they have to hear you because you have authority over them. Things shall automatically come to you when you command them to. You cannot be a king and have evil spirits playing in your life. With the authority that you have been given, you shall cast them out of your life.
As a priest, you are chosen amongst many to offer sacrifices that are acceptable to God. This means that you are separated from the crowds to have a special relationship with God that Adam and Even once had. You are supposed to serve in His house because God wants to have communion with you as a Priest.
Child of God, you have to know your role and what Jesus has called you for. Jesus suffered so that you have kingship and priesthood. Do not behave like a commoner. Do not take this opportunity for granted because not everyone is given access to God. Like the priests of old you have to worship, offer sacrifices and bless your family. Rule over your surroundings and exercise your role as a king. If you embrace these roles, you are going to be covered with the glory of God and move in power. May the Spirit of God empower you for these roles in the name of Jesus!
