And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So, He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?” Then the Commander of the LORD’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so. Joshua 5:13-15 (NKJV)

In the scripture above, we read of a time when the commander of the army of the Lord visited Joshua. Joshua needed the Lord to grant Him victory against Jericho and when he saw the angel, he fell to the ground and worshipped God. The Angel then told Joshua to take off His sandals for the place He was standing on was Holy Ground. This instruction comes to you as well today. Your breakthrough is in the presence of the Lord. Now, before you can stand in the presence of the Lord, you need to take off your sandals. In other words, for you to receive what the Lord has for you, you need to check your life and ensure that you are fit to stand before the Lord. You cannot experience the power of the Almighty God and continue to wear the unrighteousness of this world. There is no way you can meet with the Lord and continue to hold on to sin.

You need to get rid of unforgiveness in your life. Pride needs to be taken off like sandals. I want to assure you that this is the season for your breakthrough. However, before the walls standing in the way of your breakthrough can come down, you first need to break the walls of sin in your heart. God has plans for your life, but they will never materialise if you continue being stubborn and holding on to that sin. Unfaithfulness is disobedience. Before you can breakthrough, you need to get rid of it. If you refuse to leave fornication and adultery, your life will never change, and the power of God will never work in you.

This is a call for your repentance brethren. Some people think they are fine in their state of sin, they believe that their lives are fine the way they are. There are others who have created their own brand of Christianity. They refuse to live by the Word of God because they think they know it all. Wisdom comes from God alone; all other sources are of the devil. There are also those who have become so comfortable in their sin that they are not even afraid to say that they have been sinning for a long time in the church. They see nothing wrong with their actions. Brethren, we serve a God who is righteous. You will never stand in His presence if you continue in your unrighteous ways.

You are called to be a soldier and to fight the good fight, the fight of faith. However, you cannot fight this fight while you are still in sin. Those who fight this fight in sin, are fighting while dressed in pyjamas. Soldiers do not go to war in pyjamas, otherwise they are exposed and vulnerable to the enemies. Instead, they go dressed in the amour of God. We find the Armour of God in Ephesians 6:13-17. The armour consists of the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Once you are armed, you will be able to fight effectively.

God loves you very much and He wants to be reconciled with you. He wants to have communion with you and to help you through everything that you go through in this life. Repent child of God and live for God alone. Deciding to receive Jesus will prepare you to stand against all your enemies. Take off those sandals of unfaithfulness and live by the word of God. He is ready to receive you into His kingdom.
