as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. Scripture Reading: Acts 1:9-11 (NKJV)

When sin was prevailing on earth, God had a plan to save mankind from death and destruction. He sent Jesus to suffer and die for our sins on the cross. Jesus therefore left His glorious riches in heaven and assumed our human nature on earth so that He may be identified with us and ultimately defeat the devil. At the time when He was tortured for our transgressions, He did not turn back or abort His mission. He had us in mind and His love for us drove Him to the cross. He obeyed the Father to the point of death.

When the will of the Father was accomplished through Him, He ascended back to heaven. He had done a great job because we are saved and sin does not have power over us anymore. This is the reason why we commemorate His ascension. When He was taken up, a cloud received Him and His disciples were left gazing up. While still amazed like that, the angels appeared to them and told them that Jesus shall come back soon, the same way He ascended. Indeed one day a trumpet shall sound and Jesus shall appear from the clouds with a voice of an archangel. The dead in Christ shall rise and those who are still alive shall be caught up with Him in the clouds (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). When that time comes, will you be caught up with Him in the clouds?

Before He went up, He promised to prepare a place for those who remain righteous until His return. The obedient shall be transfigured into their glorious bodies and taken to paradise, their eternal home, where there is no suffering. When you have done well according to the will of the Father, you shall be ushered through the pearly gates and walk on the streets of transparent gold. You shall be clothed in pure white and given a crown (2 Timothy 4:8) and it shall be said “well done for having successfully run the race faithful servant”. There will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain (Revelation 21:4)

The question is, will you be there? Where will you spend eternity? Will you be in heaven with the saints? Is your name written in the book of eternal life? Are you amongst those who shall experience eternal peace and joy with the Lord? Do not be in the habit of living haphazardly child of God. It is time for you to wake up because judgement day is coming. You shall be expected to give an account of your life here on earth.

It is important to note that not everyone shall make it to heaven. While others are taken to eternal life, the majority shall be taken to eternal suffering, where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth (Mathew 13:42) Where the fire never stops. Do not be fooled child of God. Heaven and hell are real! There is no middle place! Only eternal joy or eternal torture! As a Christian you are not supposed to live here on earth as if the earth is your permanent residence. Most people get entangled in temporary matters of this world and forget about the love of God that manifested through the cross. They forget about the One who endured suffering and gave up His life so that we may live eternally.

Many live in sin and ignore the will of their Creator. Fornication, adultery, lies, unfaithfulness, jealousy, envy, gossip are not within the will of God for your life. God hates sin. As a child of God, you cannot forget what Jesus did for you and live to satisfy the desires of the flesh because the flesh is temporary and profits nothing. When you sow into the flesh, you shall reap corruption. Our corruptible flesh shall perish and go back to dust. Live a life that is pleasing to the One who created you, a righteous life. That shall guarantee you eternity in Paradise. It is time for you to ponder on what Jesus has done for you. He suffered brutally and died so that you may enjoy eternity with Him. All you have to do is receive Him and live according to His will. If you are not living right before the Lord, you need to repent so that you can enter heaven one day.

Brethren, are you ready for the second coming of the Lord Jesus? If Jesus comes back today, will you be caught up in the cloud to meet Him and enter Paradise? When Christ comes back for His bride, the Church, will you be ready? You need to do some introspection and put your house in order because the Lord can come back any moment from now. Allow yourself to be washed by the blood of the lamb Jesus so that you are found spotless on that day. The chosen ones will spend eternity with the Lord in the New Jerusalem. Child of God, make your ways right with the Lord today before it is too late. May the Spirit of God enable you to live righteously until the return of the Lord in the name of Jesus!
