GROW TO THE FULLNESS OF CHRIST

1 Corinthians 2:9 “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

We all know that everything that gets born has a tendency to grow. The same applies to us as Christians. We have to undergo different stages of growth towards sonship. We cannot afford to remain in the infancy stage forever and be stuck in dwarfism. Instead we are expected to grow into the likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Genesis 1:26 God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”. When He said these words, He was not referring to our physical appearances as we all have different features. He instead meant that we should be moulded into the image and likeness of Christ. This means that our lives must reflect Christ. We must grow in knowing Him; our perceptions and our reasoning capacities must be like that of Jesus Christ.

We can only achieve this by spending time in prayer and studying the Word of God. When we behold His glory as in a mirror, we get transformed into His likeness (2Corinthians 3:18). Our initial scripture teaches us that the Lord has special things prepared for those who love Him. These things already exist and they were prepared before we were even born. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “before I formed you in the womb I knew you”. God already predestined us for great things that are above and beyond our expectations or comprehension, things that we have not seen or heard of before. Thus, we need to grow towards His likeness in order to attain these things.

Blessed reader, the Lord is preparing you to access great things. You need to put away childish behaviours and strive for maturity. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:11, “when I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things”. Child of God, this is something that you have to do yourself. There is no one who can grow for you. You need to desire the Word of God like a baby desiring milk (1 Peter 2:2). Spending time with Him through prayer and reading the Word will ensure that you access what the Lord has in store for you. What He has prepared for you can only be accessed by mature sons and not babies. 1Peter 2:9 says, “ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”.
Understand that you are not ordinary. You were not created to fit in the crowd and to behave like the rest of the people. Do not lose your identity as a Christian by trying to fit in and doing what everyone else is doing. You are not like all the other so called Christians who live in disobedience, God has great plans for you. He has chosen you so that He can show forth His wonderful deeds through you. You are called to display His beauty and perfection. Other people must praise the Lord when they see you, they must praise God when they see His marvellous works in your life. As you read through this message, know that the Lord wants to show off through you because you are valuable to Him.

In Isaiah 61:3, the Lord says that He will give you beauty for ashes. His goodness must be seen through you. You are the planting of the Lord, you have to flourish like a palm tree. A palm tree has a tendency to grow very tall and its leaves are noticeable from a distance. You also must be noticeable from a distance. Others must see the power of God through you. It is imperative that you should live a righteous life, you should hate evil and not associate with the works of darkness. Put away all the lies, hatred, unforgiveness and pride. Desire to be like your Lord Jesus who forgives even when we are not fit to be forgiven. Some people miss their opportunity for divine transformation because they are busy embracing the things of the devil.

It is really painful to see how many people are slumbering and are unconscious of what the Lord is doing. Although they embark on fasting, their lives remain the same and they do not grow in the fullness of Christ. Brethren, do not be ruled by the spirit of stupor. God wants vessels that He can use to show forth His light to the world. Romans 8:19 says, “creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God”. Creation is waiting for those people who are filled and led by the Spirit of the Lord. Thus, you cannot allow yourself to be carnally minded and ruled by fleshy desires.

You have to mature in the things of the Kingdom of God. Become a true son that God can be proud of. Examine yourself, are you living a life that pleases God. Is God proud to call you His son? Fathers love to show off their sons, especially sons who are doing good. Can God show you off to the world? He wants you to be like a star of heaven that cannot be hidden. You have to manifest, you have to be seen, you have to be visible, displaying the character of Christ. People must see that there is something different about you. True sons do not run after bread, they run after the Baker. They know that God is the Baker and the giver of all blessings. So their hearts are fixed on Him. True sons are not easily deceived and enticed into sin.

Creation is waiting for the true sons of God as they are the solution to this troubled world. You need to stand out and stop being invisible. God is not looking for great men, He is looking for ordinary man like you so that He can make them great. He wants to use such people to bring change in this world. Creations is waiting for you to show forth the character of God, the virtue, the ability, the perfections, the saving and delivering power of God. The glory of God must be seen through you. If the earth can be filled with true sons of God who are covered with the glory of God, then people will see God everywhere. His glory will cover the whole earth.

It is not the false prophets who will bring change with their lies and false promises that are leading people astray. You are the hope of this world. Arise and let your light shine. Many will know the true riches of God through you. Do not waste time this year. Allow yourself to grow and be taken to a place that God has already prepared for you.
