Imagine owing a huge debt and a stranger appeared out of nowhere to pay the amount you owed on your behalf. Is your creditor still going to demand payment from you? No! your debt is cancelled, and you are free from it! This is what Jesus did for you when He suffered and died through crucifixion. The debt of suffering pronounced at the Garden of Eden because of Adam’s sin was paid and rest that emanated from Christ’s suffering was declared for all Christians. During Christmas time we are reminded of the incarnation of Jesus and all the benefits that came with it. He took on human nature and became subject to everything that humans are subject to even though He was fully God. He was familiar with oppression and as His ministry unfolded, He experienced rejection, ridicule, pain, humiliation, and death. He went through all of this so that we may be free from sicknesses, bondages, shame, and be enriched is all areas of our lives. He would see the fruit of the travail of His soul through those who receive Him and live the oppression-free life that He preordained for them. Not only are we able to tap into such a great life, we are also assured that Jesus will quickly run to our aid when we are afflicted. He is fully engaged in the pains that we go through because He has experienced pain first-hand. Jesus was a Man of sorrows familiar with suffering, thus He is able to comfort us. There is nothing that you will ever go through that Jesus cannot relate to. Hence the Bible says that we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus became sin so that you may become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). Thus, when you celebrate Christmas, reject sin because Jesus already became sin for you. We are also told in 2 Corinthians 8:9 that Jesus left His glorious riches in heaven and became poor on earth so that we may be enriched through His poverty. This means that you as a Christian must reject poverty and receive by faith the riches that the Lord has already made available for you. He was terribly afflicted and took many stripes so that you may be healed in all areas of your life. You cannot live in sickness because He has already paid the price for your sickness. He bore your weakness so that you may be strong. By His stripes you are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Your healing, your riches, your freedom, and your whole life were all paid for. If the devil is tormenting you, remind him that He does not have a place in your life because Jesus has already paid the debt of suffering on your behalf. You do not deserve to be sick. You do not deserve to die. You do not deserve to live in poverty. You do not deserve to suffer. You are free and the devil that is claiming you are guilty is a liar. Receive that in the name of Jesus!
