Let’s look at what the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia says about apostasy:

a-pos'-ta-si, a-pos'-tat (he apostasia, "a standing away from"):

i.e. a falling away, a withdrawal, a defection. Not found in the English Versions of the Bible, but used twice in the New Testament, in the Greek original, to express abandonment of the faith. Paul was falsely accused of teaching the Jews apostasy from Moses (Acts 21:21); he predicted the great apostasy from Christianity, foretold by Jesus (Matthew 24:10-12) which would precede "the day of the Lord" (2 Thessalonians 2:2). Apostasy, not in name but in fact, meets scathing rebuke in the Epistle of Jude, e.g. the apostasy of angels (Jude 1:6). Foretold, with warnings, as sure to abound in the latter days (1 Timothy 4:1-3; 2 Thessalonians 2:3; 2 Peter 3:17). Causes of: persecution (Matthew 24:9,10); false teachers (Matthew 24:11); temptation (Luke 8:13); worldliness (2 Timothy 4:4); defective knowledge of Christ (1John 2:19); moral lapse (Hebrews 6:4-6); forsaking worship and spiritual living (Hebrews 10:25-31); unbelief (Hebrews 3:12). Biblical examples: Saul (1 Samuel 15:11); Amaziah (2 Chronicles 25:14,27); many disciples (John 6:66); Hymeneus and Alexander (1 Timothy 1:19,20); Demas (2 Timothy 4:10). For further illustration see Deuteronomy 13:13; Zec 1:4-6; Galatians 5:4; 2 Peter 2:20,21.

When a person receives Jesus, they enter into a new relationship with God and begin a beautiful journey with Him. However, a life in Christ is not a walk in the park; it is full of hardships. It is during the time of struggles that the weak in the faith get deterred and fall away. Persecutions and temptations can cause people to renounce Christ and embrace damnable doctrines. Paul, in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, predicted that the great apostasy would precede the second coming of Jesus. Even Jesus in Matthew 24:4-13 told us that many would turn away from their faith during end times. The Body of Christ has been going through a hard time since the coronavirus outbreak, and this has caused many to forsake Christianity.

Christians are now taught to worship God from home to avoid coronavirus in the church. This is a false doctrine which is totally against the Word of God. Sadly, most have blindly embraced it. They did not refer to the Scriptures to find out what God is saying about this. The Bible, in Hebrews 10: 24-25 says, “let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the day approaching”. The day of the Lord is fast approaching, but Christians have allowed false teachers to convince them of something that is opposite the will of their God. Thus, the majority have stopped going to church.

Some are falling away because of disobedience. They have become so hardened that they do not want to receive correction for their wrongs. They want to freely indulge in sin as much as they want without being convicted of their wrong doing. Hence they go around looking for false teachers who tell them things that their ears are itching to hear (2 Timothy 4: 3-4). In fact, some people who are now Satanists were once Christians. They turned away from Christianity because they want to do as they please. Their love for God has gone cold (Matthew 24:12).

They have forgotten that the Lord has commanded us to love Him with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Being locked indoors and not going to church has made things worse as it has encouraged people to become anti- social. At home, children plug into TVs, tablets, and smartphones instead of bonding with their parents and fellowshipping with others. Too much time spent on the internet and watching TV has negative behavioral and emotional effects on children in the long run. The violent scenes shown desensitize them to acts of violence that they end up believing they live in a more violent world than they actually do.

When they think violence is normal, they start imitating it. This is the reason why our country has become a breeding ground for psychopaths who freely rape and slaughter women and children. They have been taught to abuse and kill. But how are children going to learn to take care of others if they are forbidden to go to church, where they get taught to love their neighbors? Are we really expecting normal behavior from children who are trained to be self-absorbed? On the other hand, how are we going to counsel distressed people and take care of the sick if we are not going to church? People do not even think about such things because their love for one other has grown cold.

Jesus, in Matthew 24:4-13 said “…Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
Not only has the coronavirus brought division among brethren, it has also brought about persecutions. Most people are no longer enjoying being Christians because they are hated for staying loyal to their faith. Even those who were playing church are now exposed and cannot pretend anymore. They are now joining those who are persecuting true Christians. This is unfortunately bringing about a great falling away in the Body of Christ.

Those who are not strong enough are now rejecting Jesus because they are afraid of being persecuted. They cannot stand being sidelined by their colleagues, their family members, and their neighbors. Lawlessness has become part of our everyday life. People are no longer law abiding and they hate those who abide. Those who are supposed to enforce the law are corrupt and acclaimed servants of God are no longer standing for the truth; their love has gone cold. Love does not rule in families anymore. Husbands are abusive to their wives and rape their daughters. Mothers are no longer compassionate towards their children and fathers no longer fend for their families. This is happening all the more as people are moving away from fellowship

Christians need to be aware of these signs and hold on to their salvation. Those who do not abandon their faith pre tribulation and during the great tribulation shall be saved. How many are ready to suffer and die for their faith in Christ? Judging by what is happening today, many would rather hold on to their earthly riches over Christ. You need to check if you are not one of those child of God. Are you still Fire filled or have you abandoned your first love? Do not forget that the devil is after your soul. He wants to steal your salvation.

If you have been feeling comfortable with worshiping from home but get irritable when the things of God are mentioned, there is something wrong. If you find yourself distracted and no longer able to concentrate when attending online services, you may be slowly falling away. If you are now avoiding your pastor whereas you used to long for their teachings, you are getting dried up spiritually. Pastors have been placed over your life to look after your soul. They are going to get discouraged if we are now starting to avoid them. What is going to happen to us if our shepherds get disheartened?

The Lord in Revelation 2: 3-5 says, “You have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent”. It is time to repent and go back to your first love child of God. If you overcome, you will eat from the tree of life in paradise. Do not allow the devil to destroy you now. Do not think that the grass is greener for those who are not Christian. After the devil has stolen your salvation, he will take away everything else. Hold on.
