2021 Unity 40 Days Fasting: Day 6
BEWARE OF THE DEVIL’S TACTICS TO LURE YOU INTO SIN
Luke 4: 1-13 “Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread” But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God’” …
When Jesus was in the wilderness fasting for 40 days, the devil knew that his evil reign on earth was about to come to an end. In an attempt to derail Jesus, he visited Him and offered Him an easy way to accomplish His mission. In His stand against the devil, Jesus used the sword of the Spirit to fight back. He quoted Bible Scriptures and defeated the devil. Jesus demonstrated an effective way to resist temptations we ourselves deal with daily, especially when fasting. Right now Christians are isolated, each one fasting in their wilderness.
Many are going through challenges orchestrated by the devil in an attempt to stop them from accomplishing God’s will. However, knowing that Jesus was also alone and tempted just like we are, gives us confidence that we shall also overcome. We should not ignore Satan’s tricks as they have been the same since the beginning. Firstly, you need to recognise that He will twist God’s Word, often appearing to offer an easy way to achieve God’s will. God has provided us the Bible to equip us to avoid snares that many people fall into. Know the Bible by heart so that you can withstand the enemy’s attacks. Confess it even when you are praying.
Secondly, the devil comes offering food. Just as he dared Jesus to turn a stone into bread, he uses similar tactics to tempt people. He lures people into sin in return for a good life. That is why you see people paying bribes to get jobs, contracts, and tenders. This is the time to be vigilant as a child of God. During this time, he will send people to offer you things you have been longing to have in exchange for a bribe. Even those who dislike you will suddenly befriend you just to make you fall into sin. Do not follow them. The devil wants you to lose all the benefits of your salvation. Remain faithful even when there is no one watching. The God who sees in secret shall reward you in the open.
Thirdly, the devil operates in the area of pride, often fooling people into thinking that they could be as powerful as God. He targets people who desire to be in leadership positions and gives them power in exchange for their souls as well as the souls of those who are under them. Most pastors start running ministries well but greed takes over and they find themselves making covenants with the devil just to be more powerful than other pastors. Such agreements do not come cheap. The pastors are required to sin perpetually in order to service the altars they have raised. They rape members of their churches and at times sacrifice them at their altars.
You will find young men who are not even called by God running ministries and performing miracles using demonic powers. They sacrifice very close members of their families to sustain the powers they have received from the devil. They walk around carrying evil spirits so that they can be feared by everyone, yet the same evil spirits torment them at night. Not all miracles are from God. The devil can perform false miracles through those who have made covenants with him. Be careful which pastor you submit yourself under. The devil uses these agents to steal, kill and destroy.
The hunger to be powerful drives many to cross borders to obtain powers to become witchdoctors, false prophets, and business people. Some get initiated into Satanism through social media platforms because they love things too much. The devil promises them big houses and cars in exchange for serving him, but he ultimately turns them into fools. He gives them mansions built underneath the water that cannot be seen by anyone. He also gives them snakes to ride at night and makes them believe they are driving state of the art machines. What is the point of having a car that you cannot drive your family members with?
Those who recruit people into Satanism decorate it and make it look desirable and glorious. He masquerades as an angel of light but there is nothing glamorous about serving him. Satan is evil. He will make you drink human blood, cause car accidents, eat faeces and do other inhumane things to keep your end of the covenant. Most people, when they discover what really goes on behind the scenes, struggle to come out. The devil does not play. He kills! Be careful of people you meet in taxis and buses who prophecy upon your life and promise to take away all your problems. No one exists in this life without troubles. Even Jesus guaranteed us that we would face challenges (John 16:33). So anyone who promises to take away all your troubles is a liar.
Lastly, do not allow the devil to drive you to test God. If you are taking medication remain on treatment until your doctor orders you to stop. Other people hold God ransom by stopping medication and demanding healing from God. You cannot move in front of a moving train deliberately and expect God to save you. You are going to die! Be a careful child of God. Guard your salvation with fear and trembling, even when you are alone in your house. Hold on to the knowledge of the truth of the Kingdom of God. Satan knows that your fasting will destroy the things he has planted in your family. Hence he is going all out to stop you from fasting.
Remember, if the devil fails to entice you with offers, he will use intimidation to make you fall into his traps. He will use people and situations to attack you. No matter how tough the situation gets though, do not give in and do not give up. Hold on and stand your ground. If you allow yourself to sin, you will lose your salvation. The devil is not faithful. Whatever you get from him shall lead you to suffering here on earth as well as eternally.
