Scripture reading: Matthew 26:38-39 - Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”NIV.

Gethsemane is the place where the standard got raised against the devil. When the Lord allows unpleasant situations to happen to you, just agree and take the cup because the grace has been made available. When you go through Thursday evening and Friday, just remember that you are on your way to Sunday. Some of you are on their way there. There are those of you who are at a stage where the Lord Jesus was, at Gethsemane. You feel like your soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. You have even surrendered to death because the burden is too much.

The reason why Jesus went through Gethsemane was because of you. When Jesus was crying there alone at the Garden of Gethsemane, sweating drops of blood, He was in deep anguish. He knew that you will come across difficult situations of sorrow, grief and pain and He had to suffer for your sake.

When He went through that sorrowful moment, He was raising the standard against your enemies. When you are going through sorrow, it shall soon come to pass, it will not destroy you. Those "buckets of tears" will not kill you. You have already conquered. Jesus already raised the standard against those who will try to inflict pain in your life.

Some of you are in verse 39 of the above mentioned key verse, where you are even asking the Father to remove the cup. You feel tired and overwhelmed and you feel like you cannot take it anymore. You are even asking if He can see the pain that you are going through. You feel that you cannot drink your cup and you are facing your endpoint. The enemy wants to finish you off and you feel like you are losing your mind and even your heart is affected. But the Lord is watching and saying ‘I have done it all for you already, be strong and be courageous ".

It is a very terrible feeling to know that you are facing your troubles alone. It seems like you are facing your problems alone and there is no one to support you in that dark moment. The enemy is planning your death, you can even see it coming, but the 'Peters' that are supposed to be there with you are all asleep. You even doubt if you will overcome this challenge. But the Lord knew it and He has already dealt with it even before you could even go through it. He knew this time will come in your life.

My brethren, refuse to succumb to the afflictions around you. This too shall pass. The Lord is aware of your situation today. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of our faith. Remember, when the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against the enemy.
