AS A DISCIPLE, SERVE WITH DILIGENCE AND HUMILITY

What is a disciple? The word ‘disciple’ means a learner, a pupil, someone who learns by following his or her teacher. A disciple will do what his master does. A student would resemble their teacher. People should recognise you by seeing the traits of your master.

When we read Acts 4:13, the Bible says that when they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

My brethren, the people around you should see that you are a disciple of your pastor, not of the ministry next door. Imitate your leader. Know the vision of your leader.
As a disciple, allow to be trained by your leader.

The Lord Jesus said to His disciples in Luke 6:40 that, “The students are not greater than their teacher but students who are fully trained are more likely to be like their teachers.”

He also taught them to love one another in John 13:13-17.
All servants of God in the Bible had disciples. When you decide to serve in your church as a worker, you should submit under your spiritual authority. You are a disciple of your leader, not a disciple of Jesus Christ or of the ministry next door.

Jesus Christ had disciples. John the Baptist had disciples. Elijah had Elisha. Elisha had Gehazi. Paul had Timothy.. Serving or being a disciple in the ministry ranges from a gatekeeper, ushering, media and worship team, cleaning, a counsellor and many more. In your church, you have been chosen by Christ Himself through His servant to serve in His ministry, in this instance the Church which you are in today.

In the Exodus 18:21, we hear that Jethro advised Moses to select disciples based on a certain level of character in Exodus 18:21, which reads as follows: "Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you."

As a worker or a disciple in your church, you are planted by God to help His servants. You are planted in your church to ease some burden off your pastor. Do it with diligence and humility. Be available to serve. Submit yourself to serve wholeheartedly.
